Roundtable held in Vinkovci as part of the I.D. Danube project

Within the framework of the project “Interventions on the Danube – I.D. Danube”, which is implemented with the support of the European Union through the Interreg VI-A IPA Programme Croatia – Serbia 2021-2027, on June 1, 2026, the second Round Table on the topic of the Action Plan for Disaster Management on the Danube River was held in Vinkovci, organized by Croatian partners. The event brought together representatives of the institutions that are members of the project: The Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia – Sector for Emergency Situations, the Fund for European Affairs and Development of the APV, the Vukovar-Srijem County and the Public Institution Port Authority Vukovar, as well as experts in the field of civil protection and emergency response.

A joint action plan, developed within the I.D. Danube project, was presented, which aims to address disasters that could affect the Danube River and its surroundings, such as fires and spills of hazardous substances into the water, water-to-land firefighting, as well as rescuing people and material goods on passenger and cargo ships. The development of joint solutions in the context of river disaster management involves coordinating the efforts and resources of different actors to ensure timely information exchange and comprehensive intervention aimed at a better and safer environment for citizens, passengers, tourists, crew members, local communities, and all services operating in the field of civil protection and disaster management on the Danube River.

The Action Plan will be a key document for the implementation of upcoming project activities, with a special focus on the preparation and implementation of planned field exercises.
