Project meeting in Kamnik within the COMMHERITOUR project

Kamnik, Slovenia, November 4–5, 2025: As part of the COMMHERITOUR project, partners from across the Danube region met in Kamnik to advance community-based models for the sustainable promotion of crafts and cultural heritage. The meeting focused on boosting economic and tourism performance in remote areas while preserving local traditions.

Representatives from partner organizations across Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, and Montenegro took part in the meeting. The participants included delegates from the Municipality of Jásberény (Hungary – lead partner), Metropolitan University, the University of Ljubljana, the Regional Development Agency of South Bohemia, the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina–Neretva Canton/County, the Local Action Group Central Istria, the Institute for Social Innovation, the Sibiu County Council, the Fund for European Affairs and Development of AP Vojvodina, the Public Institute for Culture Kamnik, the Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije, and the company Rukotvorine d.o.o.

Transnational Workshop and Exploration of Local Creative Hubs 

Over the course of the two-day event, the fourth transnational workshop brought together members of the project teams. Representatives of Fund for European Affairs and Development of AP Vojvodina took an active part in discussions on project management, administrative and financial updates, as well as in the presentations of pilot projects prepared by partner organizations.

The first day began with an introductory session and a short COMSBOARD meeting, after which the partner organization RERA (Czech Republic) presented its communication-related activities. This was followed by a series of pilot project presentations from other partners. In the afternoon, participants visited the Center for Arts and Crafts in Škofja Loka, where they had the opportunity to explore the work of local creative hubs, including the Jim Hats hat workshop and the Creative Textile Center KREATIVNICE.

Collaborative Workshop at the Historic Mekinje Monastery 

On the second day, the workshop continued at Mekinje Monastery, where participants took part in an interactive session focused on planning upcoming activities and preparing for the project’s final phase. During a break, attendees enjoyed herbal delicacies provided by the partners from Kamnik, who also presented their pilot project.

The event proved highly successful, encouraging a constructive exchange of experiences, strengthening collaboration among partners, and laying the groundwork for the next steps in the project. 

COMMHERITOUR aims to boost socio-economic development by leveraging cultural heritage, culture, and tourism. It focuses on promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Danube region, especially in areas facing sustainability challenges and underused growth potential. With a total budget of €2,143,192.60, including a grant of €1,714,554.08, the project supports innovative activities that connect communities, preserve traditions, and foster regional development.
