Participants of the Specialist Program visited RCR Banat in Zrenjanin

Participants of the 11th and 12th cycles of the Specialised Programme “Managing Regional Development through EU visited the Regional Center for Socio-Economic Development – Banat in Zrenjanin on Friday, January 23, where they had the opportunity to learn about examples of successfully implemented EU projects.

The Regional Center for Socio-Economic Development – Banat (RCR Banat) is an organization based in Zrenjanin that focuses on supporting the economy, developing projects, and strengthening territorial development. RCR Banat was founded in 2002 by the City of Zrenjanin, the City of Kikinda, the municipalities of Novi Bečej, Ada, Žitište, Sečanj, and Nova Crnja, with the support of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, the Provincial Government of Vojvodina, and the company Mlekoprodukt AD. Its mission is to connect local stakeholders and provide support for the development of the economy and society in Banat.

RCR Banat has implemented more than 170 projects worth over 20 million euros. The projects have been financed through the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes as well as Transnational Programmes.

During the visit, the projects “Harmonization of Cardiovascular Disease Management from Prevention to Heart Transplantation in the Cross-Border Region” and “Smart and Sustainable Energy Consumption” were presented. The goals, activities, partner institutions, budgets, as well as the challenges that RCR Banat faces in its long-standing operations were also introduced.

After the presentations, an interactive discussion followed in which the participants exchanged experiences and asked questions related to project implementation, budgeting, and drafting project proposals. This exchange of knowledge and ideas contributed to a better understanding of the process of preparing and implementing EU projects.

The visit concluded with conclusions and recommendations that will serve as valuable support to the participants in their further work on developing project initiatives.
