Apatin, October 24, 2025 – Within the framework of the STOP FIRES project, financed under Interreg VI-A IPA Hungary–Serbia Programme, a professional workshop on the use of specialized tools for forest fire interventions was held at the premises of the Forest Administration Apatin of the PE “Vojvodinašume.”

The workshop aimed to enhance the capacities of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia – Sector for Emergency Management, including professional firefighters and members of volunteer fire brigades, while also improving their preparedness and effectiveness in wildfire response.

The Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia – Sector for Emergency Management, as a project partner, hosted this event. During the theoretical part of the workshop, Živorad Župunski, M.Sc. in Forestry, from PE “Vojvodinašume,” delivered a lecture on the proper use and maintenance of tools for combating forest fires. Participants had the opportunity to learn about modern equipment, techniques, and safety procedures used during the initial stages of field interventions.

These activities are especially valuable as they foster knowledge sharing, reinforce collaboration, and improve readiness for rapid and effective response in emergency situations.
