Meeting with Liaison Office of Salzburg in Brussels
March 12th 2026, at the premises of Brussels Representation of Salzburg (Austria) office, a meeting was held to improve cooperation between our two regions. Since there has been no formal institutional cooperation between the AP of Vojvodina and the Salzburg Region so far, during the conversation a whole range of initiatives for future cooperation were opened – from cooperation between science and research parks, innovation centers and universities to promotion in the field of tourism.
Head of Salzburg Office, Ms. Mihaela Petz-Michez, highlighed the existing informal cooperation which is based on Vojvodina being member of the Institute of European Regions (IRE) based in Salzburg, and she invited our representatives to take part in the Salzburg – Europe Summit, which takes place September 27-29th this year. Both sides agreed that this would be a good step towards formalizing cooperation.
Head of Vojvodina Office, Mr. Nikola Vučurević presented the initiative for launching the cooperation between two regional governments, which would ultimately lead to the signing of an umbrella document – a cooperation agreement –through a letter of intent. Ms. Petz-Michez expressed interest and willingness to pass on the initiative to the government of the Salzburg Region.
A special emphasize was given to the intensifying of cooperation between the two Brussels-based offices: our side proposed the inclusion of Salzburg in the existing regional partnership consortium established for the organization of this year’s European Week of Regions and Cities. Ours side also presented the opportunities for presentation and networking offered by the EXPO2027 thematic exhibition in Serbia, and the Salzburg Region representatives expressed considerable interest.
