Within the project \"Healthy aging in the cross-border area - HEAL\" - \r\nfunded by the European Union as part of the IPA program of cross-border \r\ncooperation Serbia - Bosnia and Herzegovina 2014 - 2020 - training on the \r\ntopic of care for the elderly was held in Letenka.\r\nThe training in Letenca brought together 30 participants and 4 educators \r\nwho had the opportunity to learn the skills of providing assistance to \r\nelderly fellow citizens in cross-border areas. This training was the \r\nfirst of four scheduled in the first series of trainings. It consisted of \r\na theoretical and practical part where the participants were trained how \r\nto measure sugar, blood pressure and how to provide first aid to the elderly.\r\nOne of the main goals of the project is the development of new standardized \r\nhealth-preventive services for senior citizens in rural areas. \r\nIt is also planned to activate local mobile teams that will provide \r\nthese services, as well as to implement a public educational \r\ncampaign on preserving public health, such as the training we attended.\r\nDanijel Tu\u010di\u0107, Secretary General of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, \r\naddressed the audience, saying that the goal of this project is to strengthen \r\nthe social and economic situation of the elderly and infirm in rural areas.\r\n\"The HEAL project is a bright point of hope for the elderly citizens \r\nof these regions, promising them a better and healthier future as we enter \r\nan era in which more and more people will enjoy the golden years of life,\r\n\" Tucic said.\r\n\"The goal of the project is to bring older people closer to \r\nyoung people and the way they think, so that when they return to \r\ntheir environment, they can act and react correctly in certain situations,\" \r\ninsisted Jelena Mili\u0107, expert associate of the Red Cross of Vojvodina.\r\nDejan Re\u0161etar, PR of the project, also addressed the audience, \r\nsaying that the value of the invested funds was 254,447.78 euros, \r\nof which 216,280.61 euros were provided by the European Union \r\nfrom the IPA cross-border cooperation program.\r\n\"As for the project itself, expectations are quite high \r\nbecause it is a project that consists of \r\ntwo components - social inclusion and economic inclusion,\" said Re\u0161etar.\r\nThe HEAL project will be implemented in 12 municipalities and cantons \r\nin the cross-border region, of which in 7 municipalities in \r\nthe Republic of Serbia (Irig, \u0160id, Ruma, In\u0111ija, \r\nSremska Mitrovica, Pe\u0107inci, Stara Pazova) \r\nand in 5 cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina \r\n(Tuzlan, Posavina, Central Bosnia, Zenica-Doboj and Sarajevo Cantons). \r\nThe HEAL project will last until July 31, 2024.<\/span><\/pre>\n<\/div>\n
