The project \u201cMInimizing CROssborder water contamination of microPLASTICS \u2013 MICROPLASTICS\u201d participated in organizing the Water Workshop conference and presented on the second day under the theme “Microplastics Around Us.”<\/b> This year\u2019s conference, held from September 17 to 19, focused on “Water Quality.”<\/b> The project\u2019s leading partner, the Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina, presented the project, its successfully implemented activities so far, as well as the topic \u201cMeasures for reducing the amount of microplastics in the environment\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Partners from Hungary presented the following topics: The most effective tools for detecting micro- and nanoplastics in surface waters, The role and research work of Hungarian partners in the HUSRB\/23R\/12\/089 project, and Micropalstics in environment \u2013 from sampling to valid results.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Professor Aleksandra Tubi\u0107 from the Faculty of Science in Novi Sad presented the highly important topic Microplastic pollution: Environmental pathways, human health risks, and the role of legislation<\/em>, while Izabela Bab\u010d\u00e1nyi from the University of Szeged presented Sources and transport of microplastics in soil and freshwater systems. <\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The conference, which attracted a large audience of public health professionals and students from Baja and Vojvodina, also showcased other projects focused on water quality and the protection of water from plastic and microplastics, including MicroDrink<\/em>, PlasticDustCloud<\/em>, UPSTREAM<\/em>, SUNDANCE<\/em>, AQUATIC PLASTIC<\/em>, and TIDY UP<\/em>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Attendees were invited to ask questions and join the discussions, and a quiz was held for students, with prizes awarded to the quickest participants.<\/p>\n
