From September 16\u201318, 2025, a high-level event, project meeting, and study visit took place in Skopje as part of the GREENSMES project: Enhancing Modernization, Green Innovation, and the Transition of SMEs Towards Sustainability through Transnational Cooperation, Practices, and Tools. The event was hosted by the National Center for Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Learning (NCDIEL) \u2013 Skopje, North Macedonia.<\/p>\n

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Radmil Polenakovikj representing NCDIEL. On the first day, project partners visited Johnson Matthey to explore its exemplary green business practices and high occupational safety standards. They then toured Rade Kon\u010dar TEP, gaining insights into advanced operations and another model of sustainable business leadership in North Macedonia.<\/p>\n

On September 17, 2025, NCDIEL and the GREENSMES project hosted a high-level event at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje. Themed \u201cGreen SMEs for a Competitive, Resilient, and Sustainable Economy\u201d, it gathered policymakers, project partners, and stakeholders to discuss the future of SMEs amid the green and digital transition.<\/p>\n

Morning sessions featured contributions from the IPA ADRION Joint Secretariat and TECNOPOLIS (Italy), alongside insights from local representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Labor, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, and INOVA. The highlight was the presentation of the National SME Strategy 2025\u20132030, which prompted a constructive discussion on opportunities, challenges, and practical steps for advancing green and digital growth.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, participants joined an interactive workshop led by Giancarlo La Pietra, expert in innovation strategies and design thinking. The session focused on turning creative ideas into practical solutions and fostering collaboration between GREENSMES and the National SME Strategy working group. The day ended with a networking cocktail, offering opportunities to strengthen partnerships and share experiences.<\/p>\n

On the third day, participants explored best practices in green business in North Macedonia, visiting the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the companies Pakomak and EarthCare, including their laboratories. They then focused on planning upcoming activities, including RP1 \u2013 strengthening transnational knowledge and awareness, RP2 \u2013 promoting green innovations and institutional cooperation, and RP3 \u2013 advancing green innovation levels and pilot projects.<\/p>\n

By the end of the day, partners summarized the next steps in their activities and offered recommendations for the forthcoming reporting period in JEMS.<\/p>\n
