For 13th time, manifestation \u201eEuropean village\u201c, was organized in Zrenjanin, and it gethered primary school pupils with the main aim to learn about cultural diversity of the EU member countries in creative and educative way. This event, that is recognized as city\u2019s significant programme, once again has gethered a numberous guests and participants.<\/p>\n

The event, inciated in the Primary School \u201eYouth\u201c from Toma\u0161evac, is based on the idea that each school represent one EU member state, exploring it\u2019s tradition, culture and uniqueness. This is the way for pupils to develop knowledge abou European values, at he same time fostering their creativity and team work.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event was held in \u201eZvonimir Zvonko Vujin\u201c Sport hall, and 28 school took part in it. Representatives of the embassies of the European Union member states, the EU Delegation to Serbia, the Ministry of European Integration, as well as the Provincial Secretariat for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, together with representatives of the Fund for European Affairs and Development of the AP of Vojvodina attended the event.<\/p>\n

Mayor of the City of Zrenjanin, Mr Simo Salapura, organized a reception in the premises of City Hall, and welcomed the officials before the event officially started. The Mayor emphasized that this event gives pupils a valuable opportunity to learn about European countries and their specificities, as well as to develop values \u200b\u200bthat contribute to an open and tolerant society.<\/p>\n

Mr Ognjen Dopu\u0111, director, represented the Fund for European Affairs and Development and emphasized that the “European Village” represents an example of good practice that shows how European values \u200b\u200bcan be brought closer to the youngest in an accessible and inspiring way. He said that the Fund particularly recognizes the importance of initiatives that encourage intercultural dialogue, connect schools, and strengthen educational programs geared towards European standards. He also said that the Fund will continue to support projects that connect children, teachers and local communities because those are activities that contribute in building a modern, open and progressive society.<\/p>\n

The “European Village” manifestation showed once again how important children’s creativity, school cooperation, and understanding of diversity are, and the Fund for European Affairs and Development of the AP of Vojvodina proudly remains a partner in programs that encourage European values, education, and unity.<\/p>\n
