A workshop for farmers, dedicated to climate change adaptation, was organized on February 3rd<\/sup> as part of the ADAPTisa project.<\/p>\n

The project manager, PHD prof. Slobodan Kolakovi\u0107, presented most important features of the project; PHD prof. Sr\u0111an Kolakovi\u0107 reported about climate change as new challenges in water resources management; PHD prof. Maja Petrovi\u0107 spoke about the management of chemicals and waste from agricultural activities, while the application of software solutions IRRICAD-GrowSphere Technology-SDI in the adaptation of agriculture to climate change were presented by Nikola \u017divkovi\u0107 and Milorad Mandi\u0107 from HIDING bureau from Sremska Mitrovica.<\/p>\n

Main aim of the workshop was presenting practical approaches to reducing the risk of extreme weather conditions, with a particular emphasis on water management, the impact of inadequate drainage and dewatering, and a possibility for farmers to share experiences from the field. Representatives from Szenta Munisipality, Union of Agrar Associations of Vojvodina, the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment, the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad, Club of agricultural producers and Farmers’ Associtation Szenta were some of the people present at the Workshop.<\/p>\n

In the discussion, PHD Ivica \u0110alovi\u0107 from the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, PHD Dejan Stojanovi\u0107 from the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment, Mr. Milan Njegomir from PUC \u201cVode Vojvodine\u201d and Mr. Geza Varga, councellor at Szenta Municipality and a farmer, took part.<\/p>\n
