The European Commission has launched seven new calls within the \u201cDigital Europe\u201d program, worth a total of \u20ac63.2 million, to support the advancement and application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, digital services, and online security.<\/p>\n
Out of the total funding, \u20ac9 million will support the development of artificial intelligence\u2013driven medical imaging analysis systems, with the potential to significantly enhance early detection and diagnosis of cancer and cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n
A further \u20ac24 million will be allocated to advancing digital health services within the European Health Data Space initiative, aiming to enhance both access to and the quality of healthcare for citizens across the European Union.<\/p>\n
The funds will also support the improvement of digital skills (\u20ac12.5 million), the development of innovative solutions for ensuring compliance with EU regulations (\u20ac8.5 million), and research into online information integrity (\u20ac6 million). Furthermore, \u20ac1 million is allocated to establishing a support center for the EDIC initiative, while \u20ac1.8 million will fund activities aimed at disseminating and applying the program\u2019s outcomes.<\/p>\n
These calls form part of the European Commission\u2019s wider strategy to enhance capabilities in artificial intelligence and digital transformation. The deadline for submitting applications is October 1, 2026.<\/p>\n
