The final conference within the COMMHERITOUR project
From 11th to 14th May, the final conference of the project “Community-based models for the sustainable valorization of crafts in the field of cultural heritage to improve the economic and tourism performance of remote areas of the Danube Region – COMMHERITOUR”, was organized in Jászberény, Hungary, by the Lead Partner.
The participants of the study visit were from partner organizations – the Municipality of Jászberény (Hungary), the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), the Regional Development Agency of South Bohemia (Czech Republic), the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Institute for Social Innovation (Czech Republic), the Sibiu County Council (Romania), the Fund for European Affairs and Development of the AP Vojvodina (Serbia) and the Public Institute for Culture Kamnik (Slovenia).
An informal gathering and networking during a joint dinner was organized upon arrival, which contributed to strengthening partnership relations and the exchange of initial impressions about the implementation of the project so far.
During the second day, an official meeting of the partners was held, where the final administrative and financial results of the project were presented, as well as a comprehensive overview of the achieved activities and outcomes. Special emphasis was placed on the exchange of experiences among the partners, through discussions and reviews of the implemented activities in the different participating countries. The rest of the day was spent visiting significant sites, including the city administration, the museum and the creative center, as well as the opening of a thematic exhibition within the project, which provided insight into the practical results and local implementation of the project activities.
On the third day, a final conference was held with the participation of a wider circle of participants and stakeholders. The conference was dedicated to presenting the key results of the project, examples of good practice in the field of preservation and valorization of craft and cultural heritage, as well as a discussion on the potential of cultural heritage as a resource for the development of tourism and the local economy. It was particularly emphasized that representatives of the Fund for European Affairs and Development of the AP Vojvodina presented clothing items that were exhibited within the thematic exhibition. Also, special attention was paid to connecting traditional values with modern approaches and the role of innovation in this area.
Overall, the event was successfully implemented and met the set goals. A significant exchange of knowledge and experiences was achieved, new contacts were established, and the conclusions from the meeting and conference represent a good basis for further activities in the field of preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
The COMMHERITOUR project focuses on socio-economic development through cultural heritage, culture and tourism. Its overall objective is to improve the promotion of cultural heritage in the Danube Region, especially in areas facing sustainability challenges and underutilization of their growth potential.
The total value of the project is 2,143,192.60 euros, of which the donation value is 1,714,554.08 euros.
