The round table \u201cInterculturality as a European Value of Vojvodina\u201d has been held at the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, organised by the Committee on European Integration and Interregional Cooperation. Given that Vojvodina and Serbia are on the European path, the meeting focused on the importance of intercultural dialogue and the need for cherishing and developing an intercultural society in our region as the foundation for the development of modern Europe.<\/p>\n

The round table \u201cInterculturality as a European Value of Vojvodina\u201d has been held at the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, organised by the Committee on European Integration and Interregional Cooperation. Given that Vojvodina and Serbia are on the European path, the meeting focused on the importance of intercultural dialogue and the need for cherishing and developing an intercultural society in our region as the foundation for the development of modern Europe.<\/p>\n

Maja Sedlarevi\u0107, president of the Committee, indicated that the enhancement of intercultural dialogue should be an incentive for all educational and cultural institutions, as well as for all other related, connected and interested actors who, according to their work, should take into consideration the matter of interculturality and multilingualism and include them in their plans and programmes. One of the messages of the meeting was that the state should support interculturality as a European value by all its mechanisms and it should invest more effort and devote additional attention to the topic. The speakers at the meeting supported fully the initiatives to return the category of so-called learning of the language of the social environment into the educational system.<\/p>\n

In addition to Maja Sedlarevi\u0107, the speakers at the round table on interculturality, education, development of modern European society and related topics, were Sini\u0161a Lazi\u0107, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina who talked about Chapter 26 – Education and Culture, furthermore Eva Vuka\u0161inovi\u0107, Deputy Provincial Ombudsman for national minority rights, Radoslav Petkovi\u0107, Undersecretary of the Provincial Secretariat for Culture and Public Information, Sne\u017eana Ili\u0107, Executive Director of the Centre for Development of Civil Society Zrenjanin, Nenad \u010celarevi\u0107, representative of OSCE, as well as deputies of the Assembly, representatives of the Cultural Institutes of Vojvodina’s Croatians, Hungarians, Slovaks and Ruthenians.<\/p>\n
