Representatives of AP Vojvodina at business meetings in Ireland

Representatives of European Affairs Fund AP Vojvodina and Public Water Management Company „Vode Vojvodine“ have participated last week in business meetings in Ireland, in the context of European project „Waterways Forward“. Waterways Forward is the project focused on improvement of inland waterways, infrastructure, socio-economic development and cohesion, in which 17 partners from 11 EU states, together with Norway and Serbia participate. Project lasts for 36 months and its overall worth is 1,8 million euros. The role of Vojvodine in project is to contribute to improvement of regional action plans and strategies for development which will be integrated into EU documents.

Project partners have harmonized the master plan created on the basis of regional analysis during the meetings in Dublin. Moreover, a document that combines good practice and experience was written and it will be included in EU recommendations until the end of the project. This document also contains three good practices that Vojvodina has presented to partners from Spain, England, France and Holland in the course of a study visit to Novi Sad in the end of May 2011. Danube regional strategy and prospects for financing from funds that this strategy would open have been emphasized as well as «Europe 2020 – smart, integrated and sustainable growth» – EU policy, focused on social development and poverty reduction. Dražen Lovrić representative of European Affairs Fund AP Vojvodina presented the cooperation of the Fund with Public Water Management Company „Vode Vojvodine“ , as well as the activities taken in defining project action plan for development of inland waterways in the province. Jimmy Deenihan Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht of the Republic of Ireland welcomed the participants of the meeting.
