A study visit in Brno in the frame of COMMHERITUOR project

A study visit in Brno, Czech Republic, was organized as a part of „Community-based models for the sustainable valorization of crafts in the field of cultural heritage in order to improve the economic and tourism performance of remote areas of the Danube region (COMMHERITOUR)” project.

Participants of this study visit came from the partners’ organizations: Municipality of Jászberény (Hungary) as a lead partner, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Regional Development Agency of South Bohemia – RERA (Czech Republic), Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Institute of Social Innovations (Czech Republic), Sibiu County Council (Romania), the Fund for European Affairs and Development of AP Vojvodina (Serbia) and Public institute for culture Kamnik (Slovenia).

A thematic project meeting regarding Action Plan for the Development of the Cultural Heritage of the Danube Region was organized at the premises of KUMST in Brno. After that meeting, participants visited local artists in Kumst: photo studio, furniture renovation studio and video game incubator. Later on, they visited Industra Culture centre, galeries and theatre in the premises of the old weapons factory. Kaznice, former prison complex, which has been converted into a cultural center and creative space, where exhibitions, performances and other cultural and artistic events are held today, was the next address for the visit.

During the second day, participants visited the Masaryk High School in Letovice, where they learned about the educational program and ways to protect cultural heritage and traditions in the region. The study visit concluded with a trip to Olešnice, where the participants learned about the traditional method of dyeing fabrics, known as Danzinger blueprint, which has been recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2018.

The COMMHERITOUR project focuses on socio-economic development through cultural heritage, culture and tourism. Its overall objective is to improve the promotion of cultural heritage in the Danube Region, especially in areas facing sustainability challenges and underutilization of their growth potential.

The total value of the project is 2,143,192.60 euros, of which the donation value is 1,714,554.08 euros.
