A round table was held as part of the INNOBEE project

А Round Table, co-organized by the Faculty and the Fund for European Affairs and Development of the AP of Vojvodina, as partners in the project, was organized on May 28 at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, withing the framework of the project “Innovative solutions for the improvement of beekeeping and the modernization of apiculture support in the cross-border region between Croatia and Serbia – INNOBEE”.
The topic of this round table was to get acquainted with the pests that attack bees in our region, as well as the most effective ways to defend against them.
The project itself was presented by the project manager, prof. dr. sc. Zlatko Puškadija from the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek, who also spoke about the Protocol for innovative summer and winter treatment of varroa.
This protocol will be one of the important elements of the INNOBEE project.
The biology of Varroe destructor, a dangerous parasite that destroys the bee population, was presented by Dr. Sci. Vet. Med. Sava Leđanac from the Scientific Institute of Veterinary Medicine “Novi Sad”, and Prof. Dr. Sci. Ivan Pichler from the Faculty of Agriculture spoke about the review of current methods and effectiveness of controlling the mite Varroe destructor.
In addition to representatives of beekeepers and experts in this field, students of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Novi Sad also showed great interest.
