The delegation of the AP Vojvodina at the opening of the 15th European Week of Regions and Cities

Igor Mirović, President of the Provincial Government, István Pásztor, President of the Assembly of the AP Vojvodina, Ognjen Bjelić, Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, and Vidosava Enderić, Director of European Affairs Fund of the AP Vojvodina, attended the opening of the 15th European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels.

Organized by the European Committee of the Regions and the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, this year’s event “Regions and Cities working for a better future“ brought together participants from 170 regions and cities across Europe.

President Mirović emphasized that the presence of Vojvodina at events such as the European Week of Regions and Cities was a good opportunity to make the province of Vojvodina more visible once again in the meetings with European officials, and above all with representatives of European regions.

“This is a good opportunity to highlight once again our priorities regarding the importance of the participation of Vojvodina’s representatives in Serbia’s negotiations in the process of European integration. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to present the potentials of Vojvodina in bilateral discussions with the representatives of other regions, and indicate the elements that Vojvodina has, in terms of the overall European agenda“, said Mirović, adding that Vojvodina represented itself in Brussels to a considerable extent, and that besides the representatives of the provincial administration, there were also the representatives of institutions engaged in EU affairs, first of all in terms of regional cooperation.

István Pásztor, President of the Assembly of the AP Vojvodina, said that in the previous period a lot of efforts were made to establish and foster contacts, so that the results of those efforts were visible at that moment.

“In the discussions with us, they are all open, and this is an excellent opportunity to intensify our cooperation with our old partners“, said Pásztor, adding that Serbia had a different reputation now than five or ten years before, which was also important for enhancing regional relations.
