A round table within the EMBER project

The results of the work on the joint “Ever Moving Border Emergency Response – EMBER” project that lasted for several months were presented at the round table at the Assembly of AP Vojvodina yesterday. The project is financially supported by the European Union and implemented by institutions from Vojvodina and Vukovar-Srijem County.

In the past eight months, a series of activities were conducted, starting with the Analysis of the response to the flooding of the Sava River in 2013 and 2014 and the evaluation of applied solutions and procedures for the protection and rescue system. The analyses were carried out by working groups composed of professionals and experts involved in the flood control system and civil protection system. The Analysis had already been presented at the round table in Vukovar, and on the basis of the drawn conclusions, the development of a joint flood and other emergency response action plan was initiated.

 

Yesterday, the Joint Action Plan was presented in Novi Sad. It contains procedures for emergency situations in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia, in particular information on the flood control system, mobilisation of the civil protection system at the local level through the district, provincial and national one, assistance provision and exchange of information in accordance with the signed agreement on cooperation in the event of natural and other disasters between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia, the obligation to inform about the dangers, ways of seeking and providing assistance.

 

Yesterday’s round table was attended by the following project partners: the Secretariat of the Provincial Government, European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism, on the Croatian side, Vukovar-Srijem County, Regional Development Agency HRAST Ltd and National Protection and Rescue Directorate, as well as members of the working group: PWMC “Vode Vojvodine”, the Red Cross of Vojvodina, the City of Sremska Mitrovica and the Municipality of Šid, and on the Croatian side, “Hrvatske vode”, Water Management Ltd, the Red Cross and the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service.
