Seventh Session of JCC CoR-Serbia

The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Republic of Serbia was held in Kanjiža on 27 November. The topic was reform in terms of modernizing the public administration and EU integration for the benefit of citizens, development of Serbia and stability of the region.
By introducing and improving electronic services, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government wants to ensure a more transparent and economical work of local administrations.
The EU has emphasized that it supports the reform of local self-governments in Serbia, digitalization, i.e. introduction of e-governance.
The meeting was co-chaired by Franco Iacop, Member of Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Council and Dejan Jovanović, Mayor of Niška Banja. They are also the Co-chairs of the JCC CoR-Serbia.
The JCC was established in 2014 to establish a dialogue and cooperation between regional and local authorities in Serbia and the CoR, as well as to prepare local authorities for participation in the CoR work after EU accession.
The JCC meets twice a year, alternately, in Serbia and Brussels, and the seventh session was the third one organized in our country.
