Successfully realised camp within the “Support sport and physical activity of girls (АctiveGirls)“ project

Within the framework of the “Support sport and physical activity of girls – АctiveGirls” project, the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth and the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina hosted 15 girls from Szentes and Szeged, Hungary from 12th to 15th August within the framework of the regional junior camp for girls held at the Adica Sports and Recreation Centre in the municipality of Ada.

The main objective of the project is to support co-operation in the field of sport to develop joint approaches that would tackle the issue of low level of physical activity among elementary school girls (aged 7-15) in the cross-border region and thus ensure their positive relationship to sport as a key factor in leading a healthy lifestyle.

The project included 6 municipalities from the territory of AP Vojvodina: Odžaci, Novi Kneževac, Čoka, Mali Iđoš, Vrbas and Apatin. At the 4-day camp, 50 girls in total from Serbia and Hungary had an opportunity to try out different sports activities like basketball, volleyball, beach volley and aerobics and to get acquainted with the healthy lifestyle through sport and lectures on healthy lifestyle.

On the first camp day, the girls had the opportunity to get acquainted with each other, accommodate themselves and familiarise themselves about the four-day camp programme, after which they visited Ada. The second day, the girls spent playing volleyball, beach volley and basketball. Vladimir Batez, our celebrated volleyball player and Provincial Secretary of Sports and Youth also visited the camp. The third day of the camp was allocated for a workshop on the importance of physical exercise for healthy lifestyle and an afternoon visit to Novi Sad. The participants of the sports camp visited the Petrovaradin Fortress and learned interesting information on the sights and history of Novi Sad and Vojvodina from the guide. The girls spent the last day doing aerobics which symbolically ended the camp.

The project is co-financed by the EU in the amount of EUR 179,235.28 under the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Hungary-Serbia 2014-2020. The project partners are the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth, Municipality Szentes in Hungary, Szeged Tisza Squash Sport Club and European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina.
