Field visit within the BABECA project

Within the framework of the “The complex water management development of the area of the Baja-Bezdan Canal (BABECA)” project, a field visit to the Bezdan lock and Šebesfok lock and sluice was held on 18 June 2019 to assess the situation in the field and the progress of works being executed at the sites so as to revitalise them during the project.  The participants in the field visit were members of the project team of the Lower Danube Valley Water Directorate, PWMC “Vode Vojvodine” Novi Sad and the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina.

At the Bezdan lock and Šebešfok lock and sluice, the parts of the concrete structure of the facilities have been removed to allow the installation of the newly built lower and upper bearings, niche for the support of the gates, niche for the support of the reconstructed cofferdam beams (Bezdan ship lock), as well as newly built rail track for the new portal crane of the Bezdan ship lock. At the Contractor’s workshop, the works on the construction of new gates of the Bezdan lock, as well as the construction of drive mechanisms for the complete hydro-machine equipment of the Bezdan lock and Šebešfok lock and sluice have been continued.
