Lecture “History and Creation of the European Union“ for pupils of elementary schools of the municipality of Zrenjanin within the framework of the “European Village“ event
With reference to the “European Village” event, which gathers elementary school pupils of the municipality of Zrenjanin to mark Europe Day, with the aim of promoting the values of the European Union and the wealth of the nations and countries comprising it, the representatives of the European Affairs Fund of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina have visited the sixth-grade pupils from elementary schools from Zrenjanin and Klek and held the lectures “History and Creation of the European Union”.
Approximately fifty pupils with their teachers of the elementary school “Sonja Marinković“ in Zrenjanin and of “Jovan Dučić“ in Klek attended the lectures. It was the beginning of a series of planned visits to the schools in the municipality of Zrenjanin aimed at increasing the pupils’ knowledge of the European.
The lecturers, Teodora Milkov Manić and Jelena Radosavljević Rovčanin, informed the pupils about the position of the European Union and the historical circumstances which influenced its establishment, and the focus was on the significance and goals behind the unification of the nations of Europe. The lectures were interactive and the pupils were able to ask a number of questions. The showed excellent knowledge of geography and history of Europe, as well as familiarity with the topic of the European Union.
The “European Village” project was initiated by the elementary school “Mladost (Youth)” from Tomaševac in 2012, and shortly after that, other schools joined, acknowledging its importance, educational and creative potential. This year, the “European Village“ event will be held for the seventh time in Zrenjanin on 10th May when the pupils from 28 elementary schools will present the tradition and customs of the EU member states.
