| Description of the project |
Project objective:
To increase the resilience of the Spačva-Bosut Basin to climate change.
Expected results:
• Jointly developed action plan for implementation activities towards climate resilience in the Spačva-Bosut Basin
• 7 pilot actions jointly developed and implemented o underground monitoring system o Software for dynamic modelling of undergrounds waters o meteo stations o upgrading of the Lipovac barrier’s crown on the river Bosut o restoration of Radosava pond o reconstruction of the sluice on the river Bosut o Centre for climate change monitoring
• Two jointly developed solution ü established Centre for climate change monitoring ü jointly developed and demonstrated solution (NbS) for drought extremes mitigation based on existing infrastructure
• Developed Strategy for the solution uptake by organizations (Plan of the solution presentation, and results dissemination to local public authorities, managing organization in charge of forestry and water management. The plan will contain basic data on solutions, possible applications, and replications reflecting multi-sectoral and transnational approach, data collection and exchange between organizations).
Planned activities:
• Baseline assessment – analyses of existing dana • Identification and preparations of pilot locations • Development of Communication plan and identification of potential stakeholders • Establishment of joint cross-border groundwater monitoring system to foster climate change resilience and adaptation • Software for dynamic modelling of underground waters + weather stations • Upgrading of the Lipovac barrier’s crown on the river Bosut • Establishment of two monitor stations (piezometers 20 to 50 meters deep) for groundwater quantity and quality • Restoration of Radosava pond • Reconstruction of the sluice on the river Bosut • Establishment of Centre for climate change monitoring as a department within Competence Centre Ltd. for research and development • Validating and consolidating of results on demonstrated and tested solutions • Development of the Strategy for solution uptake by organizations • Communication and dissemination results
Target groups: Local self-governments, national and regional organizations in charge of water and forest management, as well as other related organizations will receive innovative solutions and new knowledge that will have an impact on the preservation of the biodiversity of the Spačvano-Bosut basin in the long term. Indirect target groups are those water management agencies, companies and authorities that are outside the program area, but can use methodological achievements in monitoring, modeling and planning.
