| Project description | The main objective of ADAPTisa is to develop an Integrated Water Management Platform for the Tisa/Tisza River using innovative tools and by enhancing communication and cooperation among water and disaster management stakeholders to aid adaptation to weather extremes and mitigation of hydrological risks. Besides, the project seeks for solutions which can be applied for future investments to tackle the consequences of climate change and to a quest for a greener and more sustainable region.
Main Activities:1. Development and testing of tools for Integrated Water Management and efficient early warning protocols for the Platform; 2. Compilation and testing of a joint platform for integrated water management supporting hydrological extremes management; 3. Improvement of flood safety through assessment of levee conditions and associated risks; 4. Mapping of potential flood-prone areas for flood management; 5. Analysis of flood waves using a validated hydraulic model and simulation of potential flood management solutions; 6. Joint development of a Flood Modelling Tutorial; 7. Creation of a joint database on the river channel, floodplain, and flood protection levees; 8. Raising awareness through the organization of events; 9. Project management. Target Groups: · Water management professionals and organizations, including disaster management professionals and voluntary services · Public authorities, companies, and organizations along the Tisza River related to water management, spatial planning, and environmental protection · Local residents and students, involved through environmental activities such as riverbank clean-ups · Agricultural producers, affected by climate change and river conditions · Final beneficiaries – residents living along the Tisza River · Indirect target groups – water management agencies, companies, and authorities outside the programme area who can benefit from the project’s methodologies. |
