The end of the CORNUCOPIA project

Competitive sustainability of agricultural enterprises through the development of new products with added value based on alternative plant species (CORNUCOPIA) project was successfully completed on 31 March 2020.

In the previous twenty four months, together with the partners, we have achieved positive results due to well-planned and harmonised joint work. Correspondingly, the lectures on the topic of alternative plant species were organised in Szenta and Novi Sad, then symposium and workshops with the young researchers, as well as the study visits for representatives of SMEs from the agricultural and food industries of the cross-border region. Moreover, we promoted the new model of agricultural business through creation of business plans and imposed an idea of how small farmers can improve their work through the cultivation of alternative plant species which were the focus of this project.

Exceptional cooperation of the project partners contributed to the successful realisation of the project, namely: National Agricultural Research and Innovation Centre (NAIK),  Lendületben az Agro-Biotech Vállalkozás-fejlesztésért Innovatív Non-profit Alapítvány (Lavina Foundation),  Cereal Research Non-Profit Limited Company “GABONAKUTATO” all three from Hungary, and the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, Association of Gardeners Szenta and the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Agriculture from Serbia.

The value of the cross-border cooperation project “CORNUCOPIA” was € 352,798.57, and the European Union co-financed within the Interreg IPA cross-border cooperation programme Hungary-Serbia the amount of € 299,878.77, which is 85% of the total project value.
