Held training for healthcare workers in Vinkovci, Croatia, as part of the MOS-Cross 3 project

As part of the MOS-Cross 3 project, in the period from September 6 to 7, 2023, 
in Vinkovci, Croatia, training was held for health workers.
The training was attended by 20 health workers from Vinkovci, as well as members 
of the project teams from the Institute for Public Health from Sombor, 
the Teaching Institute for Public Health of Osijek-Baranja County and 
the "European Affairs" Fund of AP Vojvodina.

During the first day, the participants were presented with the MOS-Cross 3 project. 
During the presentation, there were talks about mosquito species, control protocols,
 treatments and surveillance, diagnoses and mosquito-borne diseases, as well as 
sampling methods. At the end of the first day, 
the participants had a practical exercise in the field, which involved 
sampling mosquitoes and setting traps. During the second day, 
the participants learned about the Protocol for health workers in the event of 
an epidemic caused by mosquito-borne diseases and the ways in which mosquitoes 
transmit diseases, and with the continuation of the lecture, the participants 
were informed about the diagnosis and treatment of mosquito-borne diseases. 
At the end of the second day, participants examined samples of 
captured mosquitoes and performed species determination as part of a 
practical exercise.
The lecturers were: prof. of biology and chemistry, Magdalena Sikora, 
who presented the project and held a lecture on the topic Cross-border 
cooperation of health institutions from Croatia and Serbia in the prevention 
of infectious diseases transmitted by mosquitoes, 
prim. M.Sc. honey Dr. Dragoslava Čubrilo, specialist in hygiene, 
who spoke on the topic Types of mosquitoes important for health and 
sampling methods, Dr. Tatjana Medić, epidemiologist, who spoke on the 
topic Diagnosis and treatment of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes: 
West Nile fever and Zika fever, Ivan Mihić , mag.biol. and Ivan Kurtek,
 M.Sc.Biology, with the topic of Expert surveillance, control and treatment of 
mosquitoes, followed by Ivan Kurtek, M.Sc.Biology, with the topic of 
How mosquitoes transmit diseases, Jelena Zelić, Ph.D., specialist in hygiene, 
with the topic of Presentation of Protocols for healthcare workers in the event of 
an epidemic caused by diseases transmitted by mosquitoes and Dr. Tatjana Medić, 
epidemiologist, with the topic Diagnosis and treatment of diseases transmitted 
by mosquitoes 2 - Malarija i Čikungunja.
