The “Parainspired!” project has significantly improved parasport in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

By holding the final conference via online application, the project “Social integration through parasport – Parainspired!”, which lasted 21 months, and which was jointly implemented by the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth of the Autonomous province of Vojvodina, the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European Affairs Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, was completed.

The goal of Parainspired! was to increase the participation of persons with disabilities in sports activities in the border area between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while creating preconditions for the development of sports for persons with physical disabilities, through the procurement of sports equipment and increasing professional competencies and institutional capacities, as well as promoting parasports at sporting events.

 

 

As part of the project, numerous activities were realized and among other things, parasportsmen of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina got 2 vans equipped with a convenient ramp, sports equipment for table tennis, wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball. Furthermore, various events were organized aimed at popularizing paralympic sports and promoting sports for people with disabilities, such as promotional trainings, symposia and exhibition matches.

The participants of the final conference, parasportists and other interested sports workers from both countries were addressed by prof. dr Ekrem Čolakhodžić and prof. Dr. Ifet Mahmutović, as well as Irhad Bušatlić, who spoke about what it is like to be a sports assistant on this project.

The project was recognized as successful by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and was promoted as part of the European Sports Week, which lasts from September 23rd to 30th. More information at the following link.

The project is funded by the European Union, under the IPA II Cross-border Cooperation Program Serbia – Bosnia and Herzegovina 2014-2020, with support of the Ministry of European Integration of  the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Directorate for European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The total value of the project is 263,914.43 euros, and the European Union co-finances the amount of 224,327.27 euros. The contracting authority for this project is the Ministry of Finance, Department for Contracting and Financing of EU funded programmes of the Republic of Serbia.
