Seminar for agriculturalists of Srem

A seminar on ambrosia was held in Sremska Mitrovica aimed at agriculturalists of Srem within the framework of the “Support to Allergen-Free Environment” (SAFE) Project, which resulted from the partnership among the European Affairs Fund – AP Vojvodina, Provincial Secretariat for Urbanism, Construction and Environmental Protection, City of Sombor and City of Baja. The seminar was opened by Assistant Director of the European Affairs Fund – AP Vojvodina, Gabriella Haas, who presented the SAFE project. The attendees were also addressed by the Provincial Secretary for Urbanism, Construction and Environmental Protection, Dušanka Sremački, furthermore, representatives of the same Secretariat, Slobodan Puzović, Tatjana Đurić and Danica Popin, and Head of Town Administration for Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Sremska Mitrovica, Goran Čekerinac.

The seminar discussed the characteristics of ambrosia, its effects on the environment and inhabitants, measures to control the population of ambrosia, as well as activities done to suppress it on the territory of AP Vojvodina, with special focus on the territory of Sremska Mitrovica. The “Guide for Agriculturalist on Identification, Harmfulness and Measures for Suppression of Ambrosia“ was presented during the seminar.

The SAFE Project, worth 391.000 euros in total, is EU-funded and co-financed by AP Vojvodina, under Hungary – Serbia IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme.
