Activities of AP Vojvodina during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels, 8-11 October 2018

The 16th edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) will be held in Brussels 8-11 October 2018. It will gather the most significant regional and local stakeholders in Europe at over 150 official events.  For the first time, the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina is the organizer of two official events and is going to participate actively in the EWRC on the topic of EU enlargement.
The highest AP Vojvodina representatives, István Pásztor, President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, Đorđe Milićević, Vice-President of the Provincial Government, and Ognjen Bjelić, Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, will be leading the delegation of AP Vojvodina during this week, whose hosts are the Committee of the Regions and DG for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission.
On the first day, 8th October, Vojvodina representatives, together with Ana Hrustanović, Ambassador of the Republic Serbia to the EU, will host the traditional reception under the title “Vojvodina, Great for Business, Great for Life“, which will be held at the premises of the Mission in Brussels. In addition, just before the reception, a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the Vojvodina Chamber of Commerce and the Walloon Union of Companies by their presidents Boško Vučurević and Philippe Suinen.
On the next day, 9th October, within the “Europe of Opportunities“ workshop, the achievements of Bio-Sense Institute from Novi Sad will be presented in the field of digitalization in agriculture, when Prof Vesna Crnojević-Bengin Ph.D will be addressing the European professional and interested audience. On the following day, 10th October, there will be a presentation of Novi Sad, European Youth Capital for 2019 at the premises of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the EU. Other AP Vojvodina’s European partners such as Veneto, Lombardy, South Sweden, the City of Oslo, Carinthia, together with the representatives of EU institutions will be participating in the two aforementioned events.
On the last day, 11th October, in the workshop organized by the Assembly of European Regions, the perspective of EU enlargement from the regional level will be presented to the European audience by Vidosava Enderić, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, who will talk about the prospects of European cohesion funds and capacity building of the provincial administration in the EU integrations process.

More than 6,000 people from around 70 countries are expected to attend this year’s EWRC. AP Vojvodina expects to have a successful presentation on several topics, as well as a series of meetings the provincial representatives will have during their visit to Brussels.
