AP Vojvodina is establishing new partnerships
A meeting was held at the East Poland House in Brussels between the head of the AP Vojvodina Office in Brussels, Srđan Mačkić, and the Deputy Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Mr. Piotr Pilch.
During the meeting, which took place in a very warmly atmosphere, they introduced each other to the basic characteristics and specifics of the regions they come from, and concluded that there are very great similarities between them. The Subcarpathian region is characterized by dynamic development based on several factors such as a developed IT industry, then the automotive industry, agriculture and two universities that are leaders in research in the field of aeronautics and medical robotics.
In addition to these facts, the Subcarpathian Voivodeship (the Podkarpackie Voivodeship) is very active in the affirmation of a macro-regional strategy for the Carpathian region, which it sees as another opportunity for interregional cooperation, and a greater degree of use of appropriate funds. In this respect, they are very interested in the active involvement of the Republic of Serbia and AP Vojvodina in this strategy, which, apart from Romania, have not yet stated their official attitude on this issue. One of the main advocates of this macro-regional strategy is the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Mr. Wladyslaw Ortyl, who is also a member of the Joint Consultative Committee of the RS – EU Committee of the Region.
In addition to opportunities for joint work through a macro-regional strategy, the Deputy Marshal, Mr. Pilch, expressed great interest in cooperation with AP Vojvodina in other fields such as agriculture, cooperation in the field of higher education and participation in various projects funded by the European Union. The potentials in the field of culture are also mentioned, especially in the light of the fact that the City of Novi Sad holds the title of European Capital of Culture in 2022. The Deputy Marshal, Mr. Pilch, expressed readiness to formalize such cooperation by defining common priorities and signing an appropriate interregional agreement with AP Vojvodina, and invited the provincial delegation at the highest level to visit the Subcarpathian region as soon as possible.
