Vojvodina, a host to Europe

A meeting of the Working Groups of the European MATRIOSCA-AAP INTERREG IIIb project will be held in the premises of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina on Monday, 13 November and Tuesday, 14 November. Experts from Vojvodina are project participants, pursuant to the decision of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The main objective of the project is to establish stable and effective relations among neighbouring regions.

The lead partner of MATRIOSCA is the Austrian state of Styria and the project participants are Carinthia and Burgenland from Austria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto from Italy, Slovenia, Baranya, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Somogy, Tolna, Vas and Zala from Hungary, Koprivnica-Križevci, Varaždin and Istria from Croatia and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, this time, as the host of the meeting.

The project is aimed at harmonising strategies in different fields of social and economic development in the region. Strategically, the participants of the project, i.e. recognized experts in their own fields of work, are preparing a number of transnational projects for candidacy in the new EU programme period of 2007-2013.

The work is being done in four thematic Working Groups: Transport, infrastructure and local development, Spatial planning and development, Cooperation among urban centres and municipalities and Socio-economic development and cooperation.
