Vojvodina has become a partner in the European music project “Nei Suoni dei Luoghi” (In the Sounds of Places)

Novi Sad, 4 June – The Autonomous Province of Vojvodina has become a partner in the European music project “Nei Suoni dei Luoghi” (In the Sounds of Places), which is being realized by Italy (the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia being the leading partner), Austria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania. On the basis of the Cooperation Agreement between the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, in which culture is a strong bond, music and tourism are a ‘transverse’ over this large region. This year three concerts will be held in Vojvodina, in places where music festivals are not commonly held”, said Predrag Novikov, Director of the Office for European Affairs, announcing the participation of Vojvodina in the project “In the Sounds of Places”.

“The project has been realized since 1999, and approximately eighty concerts are held annually in all the countries participating in the project”, said Massimo Gabellone, Project Coordinator. “The leading idea of the whole project is to play good music, classics, jazz, ethno-jazz at unusual places – in old and almost forgotten castles, at archaelogical sites, in green parks, i.e. in small places not even having concert halls and tradition. “How interesting and qualitative this project is shows the fact that more than 250,000 people visited the stand of the project ‘In Sounds of Places’ at the International Taste Fair in Gorizia”, added Gabellone. Concerts will be held in Pančevo on 2 July, in Novi Bečej on 6 July and in Sremska Mitrovica on 8 July. The guests will be Italian artists, who have won the competition “New Career”, and they will be performing the works of Schubert, Beethoven, Mozart, etc. The experience gained in previous concerts has shown that the audience is mainly comprised of younger population and these three concerts are only an announcement of the programme to be realized in 2008.
