“Step Forward”, a seminar on the European Union in Pančevo

The next lectures on the European Union, as a part of a series of seminars held by the Office for European Affairs named “Step Forward”, will be held in the small room of the city administration building in Pančevo commencing at 11 am, on Wednesday, 5 September.

Lead by the notion that not only greater centres in Vojvodina should be informed about the subject, but also municipalities interested in regional cooperation and project development, which would be financed through EU funds, seminars have been held in Sombor, Zrenjanin, Kovačica, Senta, Bač, Alibunar and Čoka. The participants were mostly interested in the presentation on neighbourhood programmes.

This contributes to the capacity building of local self-governments to participate in neighbourhood programmes, because it is necessary to have a CBC partner for programmes that are financed through EU IPA funds. The purpose of the seminar is to present integration processes in Europe, the institutional structure and legislation of the EU, Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), negotiations between Serbia and the EU on finalizing the SAA, neighbourhood programmes and pre-accession funds. It is aimed at employees of local self-governments, districts, economic chambers, administration and justice, and other relevant institutions and interested citizens.
