The leaders of local self-governments from Vojvodina in Brussels
The leaders of ten local self-governments from Vojvodina, elected representatives of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, visited Brussels at the end of January. During the working visit, led by President István Pásztor, the leaders of local self-governments were acquainted with the work of the European Parliament, as well as the EU funds available to the Republic of Serbia, in which Vojvodina municipalities were eligible to participate. The delegation was composed of representatives of municipalities that were leaders in activities related to EU projects, such as the Municipality of Kanjiža, as well as of those who had not had any experience related to it.
During the visit, the representatives of ten Vojvodina municipalities visited the Vojvodina European Office in Brussels and the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the EU in Brussels. Their hosts were H. E. Ana Hrustanovi, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the EU, and Srdjan Mačkić, Head of the Vojvodina European Office in Brussels.
Ambassador Hrustanović informed the guests about the ongoing developments regarding the relations between Serbia and the European Union, with a special emphasis on the review of progress through negotiation chapters at that moment, as well as the support that Serbia received from various stakeholders on that path. The Head of the Office in Brussels informed the guests about the activities of the regional office and presented a series of opportunities that local self-governments could seize through the Office. First, our local self-governments could be linked with different stakeholders, and there were other initiatives related to further economic development at the local level.
The delegation was comprised of representatives of the following municipalities: Senta, Kanjiža, Bačka Topola, Subotica, Novi Kneževac, Mali Iđoš, Temerin, Novi Sad, Kula and Kikinda. The host of this working visit to Brussels, was Andor Deli, MEP.
