Continuation of the traditional partnership with Baden-Württemberg and fostering cooperation on the Danube

During their visit to Brussels, Vidosava Enderić, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, Srđan Mačkić, Head of Vojvodina European Office in Brussels, met with Johannes Jung, Head of the Representative Office of Baden-Württemberg on 20 December 2016.

During the meeting, the traditional commitment and excellent relations between Baden-Württemberg and AP Vojvodina were confirmed. Baden-Württemberg made available its capacity to promote the common priorities of the provinces in the following two years, in accordance with the defined plans, especially in the area of cooperation in the Danube Basin, economic cooperation, culture and tourism.

 

The Fund’s Director and the Head of the Vojvodina European Office in Brussels informed the German side about the priorities of the Fund in the future, with a strong emphasis on the implementation of major projects of vital importance for Vojvodina, and with focus on economic growth and increase of infrastructure investments into the province and the City of Novi Sad, in preparation for several titles that the city will hold in the following several years.

 

The Representative Office of Baden-Württemberg is one of the most influential regional representations in Brussels that influences strongly the creation of regional policy in addition to organizing a number of events, and the focus of work in 2017 will be on the issues related to the Digital Agenda, migration and situation of local governments.

After that, a meeting was held with Matija Vilfan, Head of Office of the Danube Strategy Point in Brussels, during which a clear intention was confirmed to work on the promotion of successful projects implemented in AP Vojvodina funded under the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), organization of joint seminars and workshops, as well as the presentation of the cultural and tourist potential of the City of Novi Sad in preparation for the implementation of the European Capital of Culture 2021.

The interlocutors concluded during today’s meeting in Brussels that strategic priorities of the European Capital of Culture 2021 will be on the promotion of the platform that will allow the stakeholders from the Danube Region an easier access to finances for projects, which is in accordance with the priorities of the Fund.
