Predrag Novikov, director of the European Affairs Fund, said that more than eighty cultural institutions from Vojvodina recognized they had interest in using the opportunities that European funds offer. “In the field facing a lot of challenges, it is important to make best use of the European funds, which are already available and which will be available to a greater extent until the end of the year, when our country is expected to obtain the status of a candidate country for EU membership. At the moment, the Call under Romania-Serbia Cross-border Cooperation Programme, which value is over 15 million euros, is open and a new call, which is worth 2.2 million euros and which is aimed at the protection of cultural heritage in Southeast Europe, has been published today.” Novikov added that new calls were expected in the following weeks, and that our prospects for the use of funds would increase with the opening of the Vojvodina house in Brussels.

The provincial secretary for culture and public information, Milorad Đurić reminded of the fact that the greatest project under IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Fund, the restoration of the building of the Museum in Vršac was worth one million euros. The project was realized in cooperation with a Romanian partner. Đurić said that in addition to the fact that the co-financing of local authority had to be approximately 20% for the realization of projects, the Government of AP Vojvodina wanted to support the realization of those projects by co-financing that part.

The today’s seminar was attended by the representatives of “Matica srpska”, libraries, archives, museums, cultural centers, institutions for the restoration of cultural heritage, institutes for the culture of national communities and national councils in Vojvodina.
