The fourth training for health workers
Within the “Mosquito Control in Cross-border Area – MOS Cross“, whose aim is to improve the provision of public health services in West Bačka District and Osijek Baranya County regarding early detection of mosquito-borne diseases, the fourth two-day training session for the health workers was held in Osijek on 6-7 June 2018.
During the project, a total of 5 training sessions will be held, in which the health workers will round off and increase their knowledge about mosquitoes and the diseases they transmit. During the project, the Public Health Institute Sombor and Institute of Public Health for the Osijek-Baranya County will procure a supervision system and laboratory equipment, and the health workers will be trained to control mosquitoes and sample methods for the detection of mosquito-borne diseases in the training sessions.
A total of 20 health workers from the Public Health Institute Sombor and Institute of Public Health for the Osijek-Baranya County, 10 per institution, attended the training session, along with the project team members.
On the first day, the participants learned more about arboviruses in our country, the West Nile virus infection and the laboratory diagnosis of the Western Nile virus infection.
On the second day, the presentation involved molecular detection of the West Nile virus infection, after which the participants did a practical exercise: the detection of Western Nile virus in mosquitoes, extraction and amplification of viral nucleic acid.
The following training session for health workers is planned to take place in Novi Sad.
