A round table in Szeged within the eWAM project

In the framework of the “Environmentally friendly water management in plain areas“ project, having resulted from the partnership between the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, PWMC “Vode Vojvodine“ and “ATI-VIZIG” from Hungary, there was a round table on the Tisza and Danube flood prevention in Szeged on 15th January.
The attendees were addressed by Mihály Kádár, Deputy of the Technical Directorate of ATI-VIZIG, Zsuzsanna Priváczki Hajdu, Project Manager, Csaba Sári, Tibor Borza and György Németh, representatives of ATI-VIZIG, who talked about their previous experience in flood prevention and plans for the protection against the flooding of the Tisza River in Szeged. Zoltán Karasz, expert of ATI-VIZIG, presented some examples of the Kurca Channel flood prevention from 2010 to 2011. The dredging of the Kurca Channel covered by the eWAM project had been finished and a length of 2893 meters in total had been dredged.Following the round table, there was a project team meeting in order to consider the future activities linked to the”Environmentally friendly water management in plain areas” project, which has been financed under the Hungary-Serbia IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme and which is to last until 31st July 2014.
