The pupils of Elementary School “Vuk Karadžić” planted white polar by the Jegrička

Within the “Eco-friendly water management against extreme weather conditions in the cross-border area (ECOWAM)” project, which aims at preventing the negative effects on the quality of water bodies by establishing a joint system of improvement of water management in AP Vojvodina and Csongrád County, an educational activity for children was held in the territory of the Jegrička Nature Park in Ravno Selo on 18 March 2019, so as to involve children in the activity of afforestation and raising their awareness of environmental protection.

The pupils of Elementary School “Vuk Karadžić“ of Novi Sad, accompanied by their teachers, had the opportunity to attempt to plant white poplar in the territory of the Jegrička Nature Park, as well as to learn about the nature park from the representatives of the PWMC “Vode Vojvodine”. So far this event has involved the greatest number of second-grade pupils – three classes comprising 68 pupils participated in the project activity. At the same time, it was the third and last planting activity with the pupils envisaged by the project.

The “Eco-friendly water management against extreme weather conditions in the cross-border area (ECOWAM)” project, is implemented under the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation programme Hungary-Serbia. The partnership in the project, which total budget amounts to EUR 1,758,447.43, of which the European Union’s co-financing (IPA) amounts to EUR 1,494,680.31, consists the Lower Tisza District Water Directorate – ATIVIZIG (Hungary), PWMC “Vode Vojvodine” Novi Sad (Serbia) and the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina (Serbia).
