Project meeting and field visit in Hungary within the BABECA project

Within the framework of the “The complex water management development of the area of the Baja-Bezdan Canal – BABECA” project, there was a joint project team meeting in Baja and a field visit to the works at Nagybaracska region on 21 October 2019. It was organized by the Lower Danube Valley Water Directorate – ADUVIZIG and attended by project team members of ADUVIZIG, PWMC “Vode Vojvodine” Novi Sad and European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, as well as Andrea Szeti Furka, Programme Manager.

The meeting was opened on behalf of ADUVIZIG by Zsolt Király, Project Manager, who presented the progress of the works on the Hungarian side, whereas the representatives of the PWMC “Vode Vojvodine” Novi Sad and European Affairs Fund of APV presented the project activities on the Serbian side. After the meeting, the project partners visited the Deák Ferenc lock, where the two terrain vehicles procured within the project were stored, as well as Nagybaracska region, where the canal was being dredged and floating facilities were placed to collect driftwood.

“The complex water management development of the area of the Baja-Bezdan Canal – BABECA” strategic project, of the total budget EUR 8,699,537.91, of which the amount of the EU (IPA) contribution is EUR 7,394,607.21, has been approved under the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Hungary-Serbia, and it is aimed at improving the cross-border water management and risk prevention systems. The project is being implemented jointly by the Lower Danube Valley Water Directorate, PWMC “Vode Vojvodine, and European Affairs Fund of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
