Successful study visit for the participants of the sixth cycle of the Specialised Programme
The participants of the sixth cycle of the Specialised Programme “Management of Regional Development through EU funds” visited last week Gorenjska region in the Republic of Slovenia in order to get acquainted with examples of best practice successfully achieved through EU projects.
The hosts were representatives of the Regional Development Agency of Gorenjska who had been implementing EU projects successfully since 1995. A number of successful projects were presented and the majority of them visited.
The delegation, led by Vidosava Enderić, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, and accompanied by Nebojša Vojnović, Undersecretary of the Provincial Secretariat for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, and Nikola Žeželj, Director of the Vojvodina Development Agency, had meetings with Janez Fajfar, Mayor of Bled, Rok Šimenc, Director of the Regional Development Agency of Gorenjska, and Branka Fartek, Director of Kranj Institute of Sport.
The participants were informed about a number of examples of successful projects implemented under EU programmes. For instance, they visited the “Dynamic Lights” project, which focused on the reduction of CO2 emission and improvement of energy efficiency of public lighting: lighting was installed around the lake in Bled. Furthermore, one of the significant projects – Planica Nordic Center, which covered the renovation and equipping of the ski jump and the construction of a racing track for Nordic disciplines. During the visit to the project sites, the participants’ attention was drawn to the fact that the focus of EU projects would be and was on the topic of digitization. The participants also visited the Bohinj Tourist Association, where Jana Vilman Proje, representative of the organisation, presented the work of the organisation and the Bohinj project under Interreg Europe.
