“FIMEK Awards Knowledge“ is a competition testing secondary school pupils’ knowledge. The questions consists of two modules. The first one includes questions testing general knowledge that require short answers. The second one involves business problem solving assessing entrepreneurial knowledge, skills and competences. The competition and elimination are based on the pyramid principle. A school team consists of three graduates.

The goal of the competition is to promote the need for continuing education and investment into one’s competences. The competition and entertainment have impact on the enhancement of team spirit and competences, such as: creativity, innovativeness, critical attitude and the ability to use one’s initiative. Furthermore, the project strives, in particular, to stimulate the need for educating those graduates who receive their secondary school education in less developed areas of Vojvodina, which indirectly contributes to the reduction of regional differences and enhancement of competitiveness in Vojvodina. The competition has been held for the fifth year in a row involving about sixty secondary schools of Vojvodina on average per annum.

The European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina chaired the panel in the competition that was held at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management in Novi Sad, on Monday, 31st March 2014. In his speech, the chairman of the panel reminded the schools about the importance of continuing education. Knowledge is the key link in education and EU strategies and it is one of the priorities beside functional knowledge. It is well-known that education is also an important lever in establishing gross national product, as well as a modern interactive state in the world.
