European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development- possibilities for support of local self-government units
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is one of the most important institutional investors in Serbia with investments of 6.6 billion euros through almost 300 projects over 20 years, while in 2020 alone the EBRD invested a total of 679 million euros in Serbia. The support it provides is reflected in the improvement of competitiveness, strengthening the infrastructural capacities of the transport network, as well as the support of the “green” economy, through the improvement of energy efficiency and better use of renewable energy sources.
The Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the Western Balkans, Mr. Matteo Colangeli was introduced to the current activities of the Fund, with special focus on mapping of the situation in 45 municipalities in AP Vojvodina, which aims to contribute to the better use of local resources. This process will enable the clustering of Vojvodina municipalities and cities, all through five priority thematic units – green agenda (renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, environmental protection), economy with agriculture, health, culture, science and education.
The European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina will provide support in formulating project proposals and finding adequate external sources of funding. In addition to bilateral financing and grants, with this meeting we started talks on credit lines of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, available to local self-government units.
