The EU “Disaster Reduction, Standardized Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment” project has finished

The eighteen-month “Disaster Reduction, Standardized Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment – DR SHARE” project has finished by a three-day conference, in Vinkovci, Novi Sad and Orašje.

The project has resulted from the joint work of the Vukovar – Srijem County (Lead Beneficiary), Vukovar-Srijem County Development Agency HRAST Ltd and National Protection and Rescue Directorate, from the Croatian side, the Ministry for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, of the Posavina County of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Provincial Secretariat for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government of AP Vojvodina and European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina. All stakeholders confirmed their readiness to continue the cooperation and underlined the importance of timely reactions to natural disasters. One of them, the floods in the Sava River Basin in 2014, was the direct trigger for the cooperation and assistance at the time, but also the development and realization of this project. Total value of the project was EUR 281,222, and the co-financing of the European Commission through the Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG ECHO) was about 74%, i.e. EUR 210,227, while the rest was covered by the partners.

 

The speakers at the Novi Sad conference were Ognjen Bjelić, Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, Vidosava Enderić, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, Mato Brkić, Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of the Posavina County of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bojan Kostić, Assistant Head of the Sector for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, and Igor Banovac, representative of the Prefect of Vukovar – Srijem County.

 

Within the framework of the project, an IT risk management tool has been developed to enhance common understanding of risks crossing state borders, understanding of risk management plans, procedures and processes, to exchange best practice among neighbouring regions: Srem District of the Republic of Serbia, Vukovar – Srijem County of the Republic of Croatia, and Posavina County of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
