Conference “National Hearing EUSDR in Serbia: Status Quo and Outlook“

The conference aimed at the EUSDR and implementation of the Activity Plan in the Republic of Serbia “National Hearing EUSDR in Serbia: Status Quo and Outlook” has been held today at the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, which has been organised by the Serbian European Integration Office (SEIO) of the Republic of Serbia and Danube Civil Society Forum (DCSF), with the support of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and Provincial Secretariat for Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-government.

The conference was the annual meeting of all interested stakeholders in the EUSDR implementation and its goal was to present to the public and all interested actors the role of the Republic of Serbia in the EUSDR implementation and the projects which had been implemented and those which were being implemented.

 

On behalf of the host, the welcome remarks at the conference were given by the Vice-president of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Ana Tomanova Makanova, whereas the attendees were also addressed by Matija Vilfan, Head of the Danube Strategy Point, Sanda Šimić, Assistant Director, SEIO and representative of the EUSDR National Coordinator in the Republic of Serbia, Joerg Mirtl, on behalf of EUSDR, Stefan August Lütgenau, President of DCSF and Siniša Lazić, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina.

 

In a constructive and open dialogue between the EUSDR stakeholders at the national, regional and local level, representatives of local authorities, different institutions, organisations, enterprises and NGOs, there was an exchange of opinion and experience on EUSDR. Indication was given to its importance to our country in terms of opportunities for different joint development projects among partners in the countries of the Danube region, having in mind the coming new programme phase that offered financial support, referring primarily to the Danube Translational Programme.

 

The presentation included the report on the implementation of the Action Plan of EUSDR by the National Coordinator in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the most successful projects of local self-governments in Serbia and the projects of the civil society sector in the direct implementation of the EUSDR. Moreover, the discussion touched upon the participation of the representatives of the Republic of Serbia, AP Vojvodina and local self-governments in the forthcoming 4th Annual Forum of the EUSDR, to be held in Ulm, Germany from 27th to 30th October.
