The conference “Prospects of EU funding for education“ was held on 2nd June 2014 in the great hall of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, organised jointly by the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina and Provincial Secretariat for Education, Administration and National Communities.

Aimed at over 140 representatives of primary and secondary schools, dormitories and other members of the provincial administration, the conference was opened by Mato Groznica, Undersecretary of the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Administration and National Communities and Siniša Lazić, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two institutions regarding European integration and prospects for obtaining EU funding for projects in education. Special emphasis was also put on the importance of being informed about all options for EU funding because substantial funds were available to institutions from the Republic of Serbia in the pre-accession process and there were a number of opportunities for teachers, from teacher training, modernization of teaching, enrichment of academic life and work, to networking with other educational institutions in Europe, as well as with other relevant institutions in the field of economy, culture and society in general. Maja Sedlarević, President of the Committee on European Integration and Interregional Cooperation of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina addressed the attendees, followed by Ljubica Srđanov, Assistant Provincial Secretary for Education, who talked about the goals and initiatives of the Provincial Secretariat for Education pursuant to the Programme for Development of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina 2014-2020. The representative of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, Tamara Glišić presented the European programmes which offered opportunities for financing projects in education, paying special attention to the Cross-border Cooperation Programmes financed under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance. Successful beneficiaries in education shared their experience in the development and implementation of projects with the attendees. Some projects were presented by Prof. Saša Bošnjak PhD, Faculty of Economics Subotica, followed by Melita Danilović, project coordinator of the Secondary School of Economics in Sombor who presented the projects funded under the Hungary-Serbia CBC Programme. The headteacher of the Grammar School “Borislav Petrović Braca“ of Vršac presented her experience gained in the Romania-Serbia CBC Programme.
