Seminar for agriculturalists of Banat

A seminar on ambrosia was held in Zrenjanin aimed at agriculturalists of Banat within the framework of the “Support to Allergen-Free Environment” (SAFE) Project, which resulted from the partnership among the European Affairs Fund – AP Vojvodina, Provincial Secretariat for Urbanism, Construction and Environmental Protection, City of Sombor and City of Baja. The seminar was opened by a representative of the city administration of Zrenjanin, after whom the attendees were addressed by the representatives of European Affairs Fund – AP Vojvodina, Provincial Secretariat for Urbanism, Construction and Environmental Protection, Palinology Laboratory of Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad and Agricultural Expert Service Zrenjanin.

The seminar discussed the characteristics of ambrosia, its effects on the environment and inhabitants, measures to control the population of ambrosia, as well as activities done to suppress it on the territory of AP Vojvodina, with special focus on the territory of Zrenjanin. The “Guide for Agriculturalist on Identification, Harmfulness and Measures for Suppression of Ambrosia“ was presented during the seminar. The SAFE Project, worth 397.000 euros in total, is EU-funded and co-financed by AP Vojvodina, under Hungary – Serbia IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme.
