Delegation of embassy of Finland and European Affairs Fund of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina about development of smart cities and energy efficiency

H.E. Ambassador of Finland in Serbia Mr. Kimo Lahdervirt was in business visit with his associates at European Affairs Fund of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. This visit was an opportunity for conversation about topics of mutual interest, in order to strengthen bilateral relations of subjects from both the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and Finland.
On that occasion, the director of the Fund represented current activities of the Fund with main focus on cooperating with local authorities, for which they have goal to get better at using local capacities for absortion of resources via external resources of funding. Systematic approach to the local includes mapping the state and potential of cities and municipalities from the territory of AP Vojvodina, planned strengthening of administrative and institutional capacities for more efficient administration in the service of citizens, as well as preparation and implementation of projects financed from external sources, as its integral program part.
During the meeting, they also discussed cooperation on the development of smart cities, as well as coorporation in the field of green agenda, from waste and wastewater management to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. Both sides agreed that there is room for part of the priorities set by the Fund, obtained through the mapping process, to provide Finnish support for their implementation, in the period ahead. After the meeting in the Fund, the representatives of the Embassy of Finland, accompanied by the Fund, visited the Science and Technology Park and the Biosense Institute, where they had the opportunity to discuss cooperation between institutions in the field of scientific research.
