The workshop “Towards more efficient regional EU policy“

Within the EWRC 2017, AP Vojvodina was, through the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina – Vojvodina European Office in Brussels, a part of the regional partnership “Regional policy future” with the following regions: Umbria Region (Italy), Northern Ireland (UK), Podlaskie Region and Swietokrzyskie Region (Poland), Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (France) and Varaždin County (Croatia), and participated in the workshop “Towards more effective EU Regional Policy ” held at the Northern Ireland Executive Office on 11th October 2016.

On behalf of the host, Andrew Elliott, Head of the Northern Ireland Executive Office in Brussels, welcomed the guests, while the keynote speeches were given by Jan Mikołaj Dzięciołowski, Member of the Cabinet of the Commissioner for Regional Policy, and Jan Olbrycht, Member of the European Parliament. The moderator was Nicolas Brookes, Director responsible for Regional Policy, Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions. Regional experiences were presented by the Lucio Caporizzi, Director of Programming, Innovation and Competitiveness (Umbria), Raphaële De Giuli Morghen, Director General in charge of European Affairs and Mediterranean Cooperation (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur), Gina McIntyre, Chief Executive,  Special EU Programmes Body (Northern Ireland), Tadeusz Truskolaski, President of Bialystok City (Podlaskie Region), Grzegorz Orawiec, Director, Department of Regional Policy, Regional Government (Swietokrzyskie Region), and Srđan Mačkić, Head of the Vojvodina European Office in Brussels. The participants in the debate discussed the Cohesion Policy post-2020 and the common conclusion was that there were a lot of challenges related to the issue, and in order to find a more efficient solution, it was necessary to simplify the procedures within the framework of the Cohesion Policy.
