European Week of Regions and Cities 2016 – registration opens

The 14th European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC), which is organised by the Committee of the Regions and DG for Regional Policy, will be taking place in Brussels on 10-13 October 2016.

Under the headline “Regions and cities for sustainable and inclusive growth“, the programme will be structured around three thematic priorities:

1.)        Sustained and sustainable economic growth;

2.)        Inclusive economic growth;

3.)        Making ESI Funds simpler.

Within this year’s EWRC, 187 regions and cities of 28 countries are grouped in 22 regional consortia, with multiple regions from Itаly, Spain, Poland, Germany and the UK. The majority of sessions coordinated by partnerships of regions and cities (22) will be focused on the topic of sustainable economic growth. In addition, 38 sessions will be held at the Meeting Place (hosted by the European Committee, including CoR legislative work and political groups results), whereas 60 sessions will be organised by the European Commission.

Like the previous years, the Opening Session, as well as the Opening Event, on 10th October 2016 are open for online registration.

Within the EWRC, AP Vojvodinа is a part of the consortium “Entrepreneurship Education for Economic Growth“ with the following regions: Umbria (Itаly), Northern Ireland (UK), Podlaskie and Swietokrzyskie (Poland), Olomouc Region (the Czech  Republic), Presov Region (Slovakia), Karlovac County and Varaždin County (Croatia). The workshop “Youth Entrepreneurship: the key to boost competitiveness and growth in the regions” is planned to be held at the Northern Ireland Executive Office in Brussels on 11 October 2016, from 09:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs.
